You Don’t Have to Necessarily Be Extraordinary …

The plague of never good enough is devouring our world as it engulfs itself in the flames of perfection.

The torando sirens of beliefs that are raging against invisible wars that declare offenders and victims we cannot find.

So we hear the trumpets, we answer the call, and strive to live a life that could somehow bring peace and love and equality …. and maybe a little rest.

But being extraordinary isn’t necessary, it isn’t the cure, it’s part of the cause.

We all want something to believe in, to fight for, so that we don’t have to believe and fight for ourselves.

If we can be extraordinary, then we can be the heros. The fantastics that are making the world a better place because of our bold bravery, our awesome altruism, our relentless revolutions …. our extra extraordinary.

This is the fallacy, the drug that keeps us hopped up on the idealistic fantasy that who we are is so magnificent that we are the new Messiahs called to change the world.

It doesn’t take long to realize that our voice is just as loud as everyone else’s, and our beliefs have just as much dis-provability as theirs, and all our insanity is the same.

So we start to fall into the scary space of letting go of our extraordinary.

When we see that no one is listening, that no one really cares about what we have to say, that we aren’t actually able to change the world from our soap box … we wonder if who we are is even worthy.

This is where it gets tangled up, and this is also where the medicine awaits.

You don’t need to live a life that is extraordinary.

You aren’t responsible to save the world …

you are simply meant to not only save yourself,

but just . fully . live.

Think of everyone that you know, and look closer at what they are trying to say.

Think of their causes that they stand behind, their politics they are fighting for, the atrocities they are fighting against. Now imagine that they put all of that effort into living their own best life.

Imagine how the conversations would change from what is wrong with the world, and celebrate all that is right with their own world. Imagine them telling you about big projects they are excited to be working on, the way they are collecting others who are talented and jumping in, the way they are finding time and abundant in energies, the way they embrace their day with appreciation.

Imagine them not being extraordinary, just happy …

Then look around them, see the ripples that radiate around them.

They are giving permission to everyone that they impact, the right to have their own happiness and extraordinary simple happiness.

This isn’t to say we shouldn’t do good works, or be outraged at injustice, or ‘don’t worry be happy’ … but what this is to say is that our mania to be the extraordinary one that takes it all on in a martyred abandonment of self isn’t working either.

You don’t need to take it all on and be the hero,

You don’t need to be perfect,

You don’t need to be more,

You don’t need to be less,

You don’t need to heal all that is wrong …

you just need to give yourself permission to be, fully and completely alive.

This is what will change the world …

millions of lives, fully owned for their own partaking.

There would be no more theft, no more fighting, no more abuse … healthy happy people don’t harm.

People striving for the extraordinary do.

Some journal prompts to help you integrate these concepts into being more self centered

How much of your life is curbed around fighting, around being something better or more?

What if you were just happy … what would you talk about, what would you live for?

Then see who around you would either fall away or be permitted to do the same.
