What we forget about getting healthier

There is a natural resistance to our ambitions.

It sounds and feels absurd because it’s all that you are striving for. More money, better relationships, clearer communications, higher value, deeper satisfactions, stronger strengths …. why on earth would you resist it?

The reason you resist it is the same reason you don’t have it yet.

You resist the evolution of yourself because you don’t trust who you will be once you get there.

Follow this thought process:

Who we are not isn’t capable of having the things that we want, otherwise we would have easily obtained them by now. That’s pretty simple to understand because we are frustrated with the lack of them. Somehow we can’t get them and so we work harder and grind deeper. Yet deep down, we know that we can’t handle it coming in as we are and so we will sabotage or degrade or overwhelm ourselves into flooding our progress with complications. Then we get the excuse of being able to blame others, or even ourselves for not being good enough.

Well, you’re right … you aren’t good enough.

That’s the point. You aren’t good enough … YET.

Who you are right now isn’t used to the volume that the new opportunities will bring, the new collaborators, the new wealth. So you don’t know if you can handle it, but are pretty sure that you can’t.

So you work harder at wanting it, even pursuing it, but it doesn’t work because you are missing the key ingredient to success. You aren’t ready and aren’t getting ready.

The thing that we forget about getting healthier,

is that we will be healthier once we get there.

When we look at the other side of the raging river, or wide lake, or deep ocean … we think that we can’t get there, that we need a bridge. Someone to help us, to build it for us, to give us a boat, to grant us the opportunity to get there.

But it doesn’t work that way - because even if we were to leap across and get there, we wouldn’t be able to be there, we aren’t ready.

Building the bridge to the other side is how we get healthy, so that when we are living a healthy life we can live it in a healthy way.

Who you are right now isn’t ready to be there … that’s ok.

Who you are becoming, will be. As long as you focus and trust the process of actually getting there.

Here are some ways to make the most of actually getting to where you want to go and being who you want to be.

SLOW DOWN- the faster you try to rush getting there, the less maturation you have once you do. It might not even be about time, but the energy and alignment behind the rush. When we slow down and allow for things to be what they are, then we aren’t missing the key pieces we need in our development. We are arriving with a depth and readiness rather than an immature unripened enthusiasm.

TRUST YOUR FUTURE SELF - there is a block hiding in your ambition, a glass ceiling covering your pursuits. You don’t trust that you can handle the good things coming, and you can’t, but your future self will. Your future self will have done the work that is required of you today in order to prepare and refine the skills you will need for when you get there.

DO TODAY’S WORK - pull in the inspiration for your future, and let it show you what tasks need to be done today. Not driving through the day in pursuit of tomorrow, but shortening your task sight for this day, this hour. Let right now be where you do the work so that you can have what is necessary for tomorrow to bring what you need.

If you work on financial intelligence today, you will be able to handle the wealth that you want.

If you refine your organization skills, you will be able to have ability for the promotion.

If you set your day into a routine where you are getting what you need, then you will be an efficient ecosystem of self sustainability.

If you foster healthy communication and support with others, you will be attractive and attracted to those that are able to have a relationship base on love rather than hate.

If you train your body to exert itself, use clean nourishment and develop new skills, you will be able to show up in victory when the games begin.

If you love who you are and the life you are living right now, you will love who you are and the life you live tomorrow.

If you are healthier today, you will be healthier tomorrow ….

Let the calling pull you, let the ambitions haunt you, let the imaginations enthuse you …

but also give yourself the grace and trust that when you get there, you will be able to be there,

because you are able to be here fully and completely now.

Some journal prompts to help you integrate these concepts into being more self centered

What are some aspirations that you are longing for?

How are you preparing for your arrival - are you waiting and hoping that they come to you, or are you working towards finding your way and being ready for when you get there?

What ways are you not ready to be there today, if the phone call came, the meet up, the opportunity … what part of you would panic about the ways that you are underqualified?
